About Aarash
Aarash was born in Germany to parents who fled Kabul due to the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. He was brought to America as a child and grew up in up-state New York, as well as Northern Virginia. He loves sports, specifically soccer, and has continued to play as an adult with Afghan VA FC. He went to Virginia Tech for his undergraduate studies and discovered his passion for mentoring while volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club and for the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad. Throughout his medical training, he has focused his volunteer efforts at serving the needs of refugee populations. He hopes to improve access to mentors for first generation Afghans as they navigate a new country and culture.
